Formula One Racing

If you have an idea what F1 is (and we are not talking about the F1 in your keyboard), then you know a thing or two about Formula One Racing. Yes, you’re right. They are one and the same. Formula One is known to be the highest class when it comes to open wheeled auto racing. This is according to FIA, which stands for Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile, the world’s motorsport governing body. You may be curious as to why it is called Formula One Racing. Well, the “formula” part pertains to the regulations which every participant and car should abide.

Formula One can take credit for the celebrated series of races called Grands Prix. Generally, the Grands Prix takes place on specially-designed circuits but there are races that are held on closed city streets. A case in point is the Monaco Grand Prix in Monte Carlo. After the results of the Grands Prix are in, the winners of each race contend for the F1 world championship. There is one for the drivers and another for constructors. The Formula One world championship season happens every year.

If there is one place in the world that should be regarded as the center for Formula One Racing, it will be Europe. All F1 teams have headquarters in Europe and more than half of the races are held there. This does not necessarily mean that Formula One Racing is limited to Europe. Some races take place in Bahrain, China, Malaysia, and Turkey. You can add Singapore and India to the list by 2010.

As the highest class of open wheeled auto racing, Formula One is the most expensive sport, not only in Europe or United States but worldwide. Considerable investments are needed to financially support the constructor teams. If you want to know how expensive it is, let’s put it this way. A number of teams have become bankrupt.
